Weekly Wrap Up #6 [February 2-15, 2020]

Alright, I have a confession. I type this on my iPad and I’m finally getting a keyboard so this should get easier. I’m also planning on getting a better case with a keyboard so I won’t have anymore issues. This is part of the reason I hadn’t been doing wrap ups, and I had been feeling a little unmotivated. But I’m excited about the keyboard, and I can’t wait to get back into my blog since it’s a fun way to talk about books.

Here’s a really big wrap up of all the books I’ve read since I last updated.

I like the new format I have going on, I’m going to keep it going. The last few weeks I’ve read 20 books. Yes, 20. I’m not a magical being. I just really love to read.

The break down is:

10 physical books.

2 audiobooks.

8 digital books (NetGalley and Hoopla).

The ratings break down as:

0 -1 star ⭐️ ratings.

0 – 2 star ⭐️ ratings.

6 – 3 star ⭐️ ratings.

11 – 4 star ⭐️ ratings.

3 – 5 star ⭐️ ratings.

I read a lot of books, and I even took a break to watch Hulu . This next wrap up may be smaller, but I’m getting back into reading after hitting a small slump. If you want my reviews on these books, please check them out on Goodreads. I sprained my ankle this week, hence I’m too lazy to type up thoughts on all the books.

How did you reading look the last few weeks? Keeping up with goals and TBRs? I’d love to hear all about it.

Weekly Wrap Up [October 6-13, 2019]

My wrap up this week is a little different because I’ve been all over the map this weekend. I also won’t be doing what Ethan thinks each book is about this week because his band has a performance so he’s been crazy busy all weekend. I’ll be doing it again next weekend. It’s just easier to not have it done this week when everything is a little bit of chaos all around. Plus, it’s suddenly become autumn and I’m living for it. Two weeks ago, it was like 80 degrees and now I’m adoring the weather. Fall is the best time of the year… I’m sad it seems to go by so quickly. Anyway. Here are all the books I’ve read this week:

I really hated this…. I actually downloaded Audible Escapes solely for this since a few friends were listening to it. And I hated it so much, I gave it one star. You can find all my thoughts on this book here.

3/5 stars. This was another one I listened to on Audible Escapes. It’s a super cute story. I would definitely read the other books in the series. I just gave it three stars because so much was happening, and then it was just done.

This was probably one of my favorite reads all year. My full review is up, please check it out. I gave this one a solid 4 stars.

I decided I need to read this series because the books have been dormant on my shelves for ages. I didn’t know what to expect, but it’s a good start. I gave it 4 stars, and I’m picking up the next one for Tropeathon. I have a TBR for this readathon coming up this week.

I picked this up on recommendation and didn’t like it at all. I think it may work for some people, but I only gave it 2 stars. I also have a review of this, too.

I gave this 3 stars. I’m sad because I was so obsessed with the first one. It was a 5 star read I could not put down. This second one just fell flat. I was bored and didn’t care. I barely remember what it was about at this point, and I skimmed most of the book toward the end. I hope the last one is better.

Another 3 star read. Actually I tend to give out a lot of 3 stars so I don’t know why I am surprised honestly…. my review with more of my thoughts will be up later today.

Stephanie recommended this to me… and I liked it! It’s a 4/5 star start to a series, which is a great sign to me. They are all on Audible Escapes. I just finished the first one, but I’m on the second one so I’m hoping to get the series done before my free trial runs out. I can’t justify paying for the audio books when I would use Kindle Unlimited more… so I’m going to start using the library for audio books more often.

This was an actually awesome reading week for me. I’m proud I did well despite having a teething baby who doesn’t want to nap. I stayed up later than I should have a few nights, but I just need the me reading time. I’m excited to know what everyone else read this week. Have you read any of these books or plan to? I’d love to discuss them.

Until I rant about books again,

Weekly Wrap Up [September 30-October 5th]

I didn’t actually complete as many books this week as I have been. I took a much needed break from NetGalley, and I have been reading books from Kindle Unlimited and books I own which I’ve had for ages. It’s just been an off week because I was watching some Hulu, but I think with Ethan being off work, I didn’t read as much since I don’t normally get to spend a lot of time with him. So I’ll just update you on the book I read this week and the books I’m currently reading. This won’t be much of a post, but I hope to have a better post next week.

Genre: Thriller

Rating: 4/5 Stars

My full review is available.

I am currently reading:

I’m liking this first book so far. I’m very interested in the manifestation of powers and how the politics of the land will play out.

I started this on audio because some friends were reading it as well. It’s a piece of trash full of dumb tropes, and I hate it. Of course I’m going to complete listening, but I just have a lot of issues to complain about in regard to this series.

I like this one, but I also am kind of cringing at certain elements. The enemies to lovers is so freaking strong, and I understand high school kids can have sex and behave this way. I just think I would have liked this book better if it was set in more of an adult setting rather than high school. I blame this on me getting old but still wanting decent new adult books, too.

I’m hoping to finish all these current books this week and possibly add a few more. But I also want to watch a lot of The Goldbergs so I don’t know what’s going to happen with reading once I decide to turn on Hulu. I’m weak, okay?

I’d love to hear about what you read this week and what your upcoming plans are for books. I’m enjoying Blogtober too. It’s quite fun. I can’t wait for Blogmas.

Until I rant about books again,

September Swoons 2019 Wrap Up [Reading Challenge]

I set a goal for myself to only read romance in September because it’s a genre I used to love, but I’ve gotten away from it. I’m glad to be back to it. I’d like to give you some suggestions of where I get my romance suggestions from

Bree at Falling for Romance and her YouTube channel, Bree Hill.

Stephanie from Steph’s Romance Book Talk on YouTube.

Sarah from Tea Hags on YouTube.

Chandler Ainsley from YouTube.

Here’s all the romance I read this month. It’s a lot! They are not in order of when I read them or what I liked most. I just kinda put them in the post and that’s how they are going to stay because I’m lazy. I’m just going to talk about each of them briefly. You can find all the reviews for them on previous posts. It was a good month for reading romance, and I know it’s going to continue for a long time. It’s great to be back reading a genre I love so much.

Christmas and royalty are so great together. This one will definitely get you into the holiday spirit. It’s the first one in a trilogy as well.

This is like book eight in a series so there’s a lot of mentions of other characters from prior novels. I stopped trying to keep track. I liked this one mostly… just wish the rivals to lovers aspect was stronger.

Brother’s best friend. I love it. Just kinda over the awkward yet pretty protagonist all of the time. This wasn’t a bad read, just rather formulaic.

The mystery of a serial killer in a small town. What’s not to love? Even better when you add in romance.

Will these people finally get their happy ending? The conclusion to their story had their wedding being planned… but it may not go according to plan.

This is so cute. I could not stop reading this book. Puppies and Christmas together make for a great time. Definitely add to your holiday romance books.

If you want a badly written Gossip Girl type book, you can try this book. I don’t recommend it. The romance isn’t great, and the book is not that well written.

Cute contemporary Christmas romance. I’m happy how it ended, but I kinda wish it had been more Christmas oriented than it shows on the cover.

Amy Miller is a new fav contemporary author. Both of her books have romance. I did not like one of them, but you may find you do so she’s definitely worth checking out.

So the main heroine in this book was so oblivious I wanted to scream the entire time I was reading the book. Honestly this kind of turned me off Penny Reid because it was just not great. The romance is kind of annoying and just… I would say try her Winston Brothers series instead. Even though I still need to finish that one…oops.

Adorable. This was like the first romance I read for the month, and it set a decent pace. I can’t wait to read more max Monroe.

Both of the above were good Christmas books. Mostly. Let It Snow was a little less annoying because it wasn’t like subtlety full of Jesus and making me want to hit my head against the wall. But both deal with family situations so if you’re looking for those, try both of these out.

So I did read a lot more romance than I expected to. I still have so many NetGalley romances to go through. I also need to take a library trip eventually so I can have all of the romances. But I do have Kindle Unlimited so I think I’ll be okay. I’m so thrilled to be back into reading romance, but I’m also craving a thriller so I’ll be reading some of those in October. Have you read any good romances lately or read any of these? I’d love to talk about them with you.

Until I rant about books again,

Weekly Wrap Up [September 22-28]

I had a decent week of reading. I’ve been glued to my iPad and Kindle app to make a dent in my NetGalley books, but it’s definitely worth my time. I’m always finding time to read between taking care of the baby or I’d lose my mind. My Hulu shows are suffering, but they will still be there so I’m content. This week I read six books. All romance. I can’t believe September Swoons is almost done. I’ll be doing a Wrap Up Post for that coming very soon. Here are all the books I read this week:

What Ethan thinks this book is about: A dude whose wife leaves him, and this puppy saves him right before Christmas.

My rating: 4/5 stars

You can find my full review here.

What Ethan thinks this book is about: A couple moves into a house, and they go into the attic. These Christmas lights entangle them and transport them to Christmas hell land.

My rating: 4/5 Stars

I did a mini review of this you can find here.

What Ethan thinks this book is about: A couple goes to Antarctica because the world is ending. They dig under the ice, a million spiders emerge, and kill everyone.

My rating: 4/5 Stars

My review is linked above.

What Ethan thinks this book is about: A woman tries to get with a guy, risking everything, but he is uninterested.

My rating: 4/5 stars

Review linked above above.

What Ethan thinks this book is about: A guy returns to his family during the holidays and says he’s a wolf but they reject him. Essentially twilight with Christmas.

My rating: 4/5 Stars

I have a mini review of this coming soon. But let’s just say if you like paranormal and Christmas, this book should be on your TBR.

What Ethan thinks this book is about: A cheating woman who falls in love with a servant.

My rating: 4/5 Stars

This will also be part of my mini review upcoming. I would say if you want to start a Christmas trilogy with princes and castles, this is the book for you. It was so sweet and made me want a vegetarian hot dog.

So that’s everything I read this week. I had a good reading week in comparison to what I had last week. I think I’m just trying to get through these NetGalley books so my ratio stops being so low. And I’m hoping to keep improving so I can maybe someday get a book from Berkeley. Ah, wishful thinking at its finest.

Until I rant about books again,

Weekly Wrap Up [September 15-21]

I didn’t read a lot this week. I made a bad choice and requested way too many books on NetGalley so I have a ridiculous NetGalley TBR now. I’ll definitely be doing a post soon about the NetGalleys I have gotten, and you’ll see what I’ve read from NetGalley in my upcoming wrap up for the month/how I did for September Swoons.

What Ethan thinks this book is about: Rich white kids doing weird culty things.

My rating: 3/5 Stars

You can find my full review here.

What Ethan thinks this book is about: girl trying to find herself and turns out she’s just a basic bitch.

My rating: 4/5 Stars

My thoughts: This was a sweet book that reminds me of Sophie Kinsella and other British romance authors. I really did love this book. I have a review coming up this week so stay tuned for my full thoughts soon.

What Ethan thinks this book is about: A Supper Club full of Swingers

My rating: 3/5 Stars

My thoughts: I did not love this book like I expected. It left me disappointed and mad. This one is also going to be reviewed this week so also look out for this one.

I didn’t really very much this week… yikes. I am going to be trying to read NetGalley books and get caught up on those. I regret requesting so many. I’m still waiting to hear about 25 I have pending so I guess we’ll see what happens what that. My ratio is going to take a beating if I don’t keep up.

Until I rant about books again,
