Goodreads Monday [September 30]

Goodreads Monday is a weekly meme that was started by @Lauren’s Page Turners. The meme is pretty easy to follow, to participate simply choose a random book from your TBR and explain why you want to read it!

Here’s the book of the day…

Synopsis:

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER
Two starcrossed magicians engage in a deadly game of cunning in The Night Circus, the spellbinding bestseller that has captured the world’s imagination.

The circus arrives without warning. No announcements precede it. It is simply there, when yesterday it was not. Within the black-and-white striped canvas tents is an utterly unique experience full of breathtaking amazements. It is called Le Cirque des Rêves, and it is only open at night.

But behind the scenes, a fierce competition is underway: a duel between two young magicians, Celia and Marco, who have been trained since childhood expressly for this purpose by their mercurial instructors. Unbeknownst to them both, this is a game in which only one can be left standing. Despite the high stakes, Celia and Marco soon tumble headfirst into love, setting off a domino effect of dangerous consequences, and leaving the lives of everyone, from the performers to the patrons, hanging in the balance.

I’ve had this book on my TBR for so long. I think I picked it up because everyone was talking about it or I liked the cover. I know it’s a book people have mixed feelings on. I constantly say I’m going to read it yet I still haven’t even tried? I guess we will see if I do get to this book anytime soon or not. It looks like I will love it. Someday I will read it… I swear.

What is on your Goodreads shelf to read? If anyone is doing this, I would love to see your book choice so I can add more books to my own TBR.

Until I rant about books again,

Gooodreads Monday [September 23]

Synopsis:

From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Handmaid’s Tale

In this final volume of the internationally celebrated MaddAddam trilogy, the Waterless Flood pandemic has wiped out most of the population. Toby is part of a small band of survivors, along with the Children of Crake: the gentle, bioengineered quasi-human species who will inherit this new earth.

As Toby explains their origins to the curious Crakers, her tales cohere into a luminous oral history that sets down humanity’s past—and points toward its future. Blending action, humor, romance, and an imagination at once dazzlingly inventive and grounded in a recognizable world, MaddAddam is vintage Atwood—a moving and dramatic conclusion to her epic work of speculative fiction.

Oh, my goodness. So this has been on my TBR for ages. Oops. I’ve been into this trilogy since I read Oryx and Crake in high school. I’ve been a fan of Atwood since high school, and I bought this book like eight years ago to read it. I don’t know why I keep putting it off when I know I’m going to like it. However, it’s been so long I feel like I should reread the other two books so I’m fully cognizant of the events in prior books so I’m not confused as hell. So I need to get to this one eventually, but I have so many other books too. I really have no idea why I keep adding books to my Goodreads Tbr. If anyone has read this, I’d love to hear what you think. Atwood is such a good author, I love talking about her books.
